Pimasartan potassium is used as an add-on treatment for patients with essential hypertension who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy, effectively lowering and controlling blood pressure. This helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and aids in blood pressure management.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for adults is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water, regardless of meals. It is advised to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Pimasartan 30 mg monotherapy, a dosage of 30/2.5 mg is administered. For patients not adequately controlled with Pimasartan 60 mg monotherapy, a dosage of 60/2.5 mg is administered.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in pediatric and adolescent patients under 18 years of age have not been established.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to this drug's active ingredients or similar class medications, pregnant or lactating women, patients undergoing renal dialysis, patients with severe liver impairment, patients with obstructed bile ducts, certain renal and diabetic patients, lactose intolerant patients, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and those in a state of shock should not take this medication. Patients with low blood volume or sodium, impaired kidney function, renal artery hypertension, aortic or mitral stenosis, primary aldosteronism, severe hypotension, elderly patients, and those with allergies to specific pigments should use this medication cautiously. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, facial swelling, urination disorders, insomnia, and flushing may occur while taking this medication; in rare cases, serious kidney problems or blood pressure drops may arise, necessitating immediate consultation with a healthcare provider if abnormal symptoms manifest. Patients with hypotension or electrolyte imbalances should be closely monitored during early treatment, as there is a risk of excessive blood pressure reduction. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive agents, certain diuretics, potassium-sparing diuretics, lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc.; thus, it is crucial to inform healthcare providers of any other medications taken concurrently. Pregnant and lactating women should consult a physician before taking this medication and are advised to avoid it whenever possible. The safety and efficacy of this medication has not been established in children and adolescents under 18 years of age; therefore, use is not recommended. Elderly patients do not require special dosage adjustments, but may have heightened sensitivity, so caution is necessary. Patients with severely impaired liver function should not take this medication, and in the case of overdose, immediate emergency measures should be obtained due to the potential for severe hypotension or cardiac issues. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to another container, as it may compromise quality.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mouth/eyes mucosa, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), profound fatigue, sudden and severe headaches, thunderclap headaches, seizures, confusion, vision abnormalities, paralysis, urinary issues.
