Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension
Pimasartan potassium is used additionally when blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with monotherapy in patients with essential hypertension, helping to adequately control blood pressure.
The recommended dosage for this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time daily (e.g., in the morning). Elderly patients: No initial dosage adjustment is required for patients aged 70 and under. Patients with renal impairment: No dosage adjustment is required for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance 30 to 80 mL/min).
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, discontinuation should occur immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to the active ingredient or similar ingredients, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients on kidney dialysis, patients with moderate to severe liver impairment, patients with biliary obstruction, diabetic patients with certain kidney diseases, patients who are lactose intolerant, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and patients in shock should not take this medication. Patients with low blood volume or sodium deficiency, patients with impaired kidney function, patients with renal artery hypertension, patients with aortic and mitral stenosis or obstructive heart diseases, patients with primary hyperaldosteronism, patients with severe hypotension, elderly patients, and patients allergic to specific pigment ingredients should be administered this medication with caution. While taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, facial swelling, urinary disturbances, insomnia, and flushing may occur, and in rare cases, serious neurological, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, or hepatic disorders have been reported. There is a particular risk of hypotension, electrolyte imbalances, hyperkalemia, and acute renal failure, so immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary if these symptoms arise. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, diuretics, potassium-sparing diuretics, lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and so forth; therefore, it is essential to inform of any other medications being taken. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult healthcare professionals before taking this medication and are advised to avoid it while breastfeeding. Safety for use in children and adolescents under 18 years has not been established and is therefore not recommended. Elderly individuals may react more sensitively to this medication and should take precautions while using it. Patients with moderate to severe liver impairment should avoid taking this medication. In case of overdose, symptoms of hypotension, palpitations, and reflex tachycardia may occur; immediate medical treatment is required. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container is not advisable as it may adversely affect quality.
