Pimasartan potassium is used when blood pressure control is insufficient with monotherapy in patients with essential hypertension. This medication helps effectively lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, it is used for treating patients with hypertension who have difficulty controlling their blood pressure.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for adults is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advised to take it at the same time daily (e.g., in the morning). 30/2.5 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Pimasartan 30 mg monotherapy. 60/2.5 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Pimasartan 60 mg monotherapy.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy in pediatric and adolescent patients under 18 years have not been established.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus or newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This medication should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to its active ingredient or similar substances, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients undergoing kidney dialysis, those with moderate to severe liver dysfunction, patients with bile duct obstruction, diabetic patients with certain kidney diseases, patients with specific heart valve diseases, and patients in severe shock. Since this medication lowers blood pressure, hypoglycemic symptoms may appear when starting treatment or increasing the dosage, and it is advisable to have potassium levels checked periodically. When taken with other antihypertensives, diuretics, potassium supplements, specific antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory drugs, drug interactions may occur, so inform your doctor or pharmacist before taking. Taking this medication during pregnancy can cause serious issues for the fetus, so those planning to become pregnant or who are pregnant should consult healthcare professionals; it is also advisable to avoid taking it while breastfeeding. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children and adolescents under 18 years have not been sufficiently established, so its use is generally not recommended.
