This medication should not be taken by patients with inflammatory bowel disease, bowel perforation, or bowel obstruction. Patients with unexplained abdominal pain or allergies to this medication or its components should also avoid it. Long-term use of this medication must be done under the guidance of a physician, and self-administering for a prolonged period should be avoided. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, breastfeeding women, patients with acute constipation accompanied by pain and fever, or those taking other medications should consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. Patients with irritable bowel syndrome may experience abdominal pain when taking this medication, so caution is required. If symptoms such as abdominal pain, abdominal bloating, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, or rare allergic reactions occur during use, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Particularly, elderly patients or those with weakened kidney or liver function need to be cautious of electrolyte imbalance and dehydration. If diarrhea or vomiting becomes severe, electrolyte replenishment may be necessary. Using a high dose may cause diarrhea, so if symptoms worsen, it is advisable to reduce the dosage or temporarily discontinue use. In cases of chronic constipation, this medication only aids temporary symptom relief; a diet high in fiber, adequate fluid intake, and regular exercise are also necessary. Because this medication contains polyethylene glycol, there is a risk of aspiration in children with oral motor disabilities if overdosed through a nasogastric tube, so special care is needed. Before taking this medication, it is essential to ensure there are no underlying gastrointestinal disorders, and individuals who have experienced hypersensitivity reactions should use caution.
