Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medicine helps effectively control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes who have difficulty controlling it through diet and exercise. Sitagliptin and Metformin work together to help maintain stable blood sugar levels. Continuous use can improve blood sugar control and significantly aid in diabetes management. Thus, this medicine is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
The dosage of this medication is determined within the limits of the maximum recommended daily doses of each ingredient: Sitagliptin 100 mg and Metformin 2000 mg. Generally, it is taken twice daily with meals, gradually increasing the dosage to reduce gastrointestinal adverse effects from Metformin. 1. For patients who are not currently being treated with Metformin: Initial dosage is this medicine 50/500 mg taken twice daily.
This medicine is an antidiabetic agent containing Sitagliptin and Metformin. First, during the intake of this medicine, serious allergic reactions may occur, so caution is advised. If symptoms such as skin rash, hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Additionally, there have been reports of severe side effects such as acute pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas. Therefore, if sudden abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea occurs, you should visit a hospital immediately. This medicine should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function. It may be dangerous to take this medicine if there are conditions such as poor kidney function, acute renal failure, dehydration, severe infections, or heart failure, so it is essential to consult with a physician. Women who are pregnant or likely to become pregnant, as well as nursing women, should not take this medicine, and safety and efficacy have not been established for children under 18 years of age. This medicine may cause hypoglycemia, so particularly patients taking it with other hypoglycemic agents or insulin should be aware of the symptoms of hypoglycemia. Symptoms of hypoglycemia include dizziness, cold sweat, severe fatigue, and confusion, and if these symptoms occur, immediate intake of sugar or consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary. Moreover, this medicine can induce lactic acidosis, a rare but potentially fatal metabolic disorder, so if sudden difficulty in breathing, muscle pain, lethargy, or abdominal pain occurs, you must go to the hospital immediately. Before undergoing surgery or tests using radioactive iodine contrast agents, this medicine should be temporarily discontinued, and it should be resumed only after confirming that kidney function is normal post-surgery. It is best to avoid alcohol intake while taking this medicine, as excessive alcohol consumption can be particularly dangerous. Regular blood tests to monitor kidney function and vitamin B12 levels are important, as vitamin B12 deficiency may occur; supplementation may be necessary if needed. Finally, during the use of this medicine, you should maintain a consistent diet and exercise regimen, and regularly monitor blood glucose and kidney function to ensure safe and effective treatment.
Hives, angioedema, anaphylaxis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, severe rash, exfoliative skin disorders, acute pancreatitis, acute renal failure, acute and severe renal impairment, lactic acidosis, difficulty breathing, severe edema, acute myocardial infarction, sepsis, worsening of renal function, severe allergic reactions, severe arthralgia, bullous pemphigoid, thrombocytopenia, rhabdomyolysis, liver abnormalities (including elevated liver enzymes, jaundice) and severe neurological symptoms
