Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin and is used for the treatment of diabetes. During treatment, serious allergic reactions may occur, so if symptoms such as skin rashes or breathing difficulties arise, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas, may rarely occur, so if you experience abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal pain, notify medical personnel immediately. Patients with severely impaired kidney function or in serious conditions such as acute heart failure or acute myocardial infarction should not use this medication. If undergoing tests with radioactive iodine contrast agents, this medication should be temporarily discontinued, and it should only be resumed after confirming normal kidney function post-examination. It is advisable for pregnant or potentially pregnant women and nursing mothers not to take this medication. This medication may cause hypoglycemia, so particular attention should be paid to signs of low blood sugar, especially when taken in conjunction with other hypoglycemic agents. Gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain may occur; consult a physician if symptoms are severe. Excessive alcohol consumption may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, a side effect of this medication, so it is advisable to avoid alcohol. In case of surgery, this medication should be discontinued 48 hours prior to surgery, and it should only be resumed after confirming normal kidney function post-surgery. Elderly individuals may experience decreased kidney function, so regular kidney function tests should be conducted, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. During use of this medication, it is important to regularly monitor blood sugar, kidney function, and blood tests to assess health status. In the event of an overdose, visit a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment, which may include blood dialysis. If sudden muscle pain, joint pain, or skin blistering occur while using this medication, notify a physician immediately.
