How to take

Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin, and is used in diabetes treatment. While taking this medication, serious allergic reactions may occur; therefore, if symptoms such as rashes, hives, or difficulty in breathing appear, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Acute pancreatitis may occur, so inform healthcare providers immediately if severe abdominal pain or vomiting occurs. Patients with severely impaired kidney function or at risk for acute renal failure should not take this medication and should regularly have their kidney function tested. Avoid taking this medication if you have severe infections, dehydration, heart disease, heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction. When undergoing tests with iodinated contrast media, this medication should be temporarily discontinued and should only be resumed after confirming normal kidney function post-exam. Pregnant or potentially pregnant women, as well as breastfeeding women, should not take this medication. This medication may cause hypoglycemia, so particular caution is needed when skipping meals, eating irregularly, exercising vigorously, or taking it with other hypoglycemic agents. Gastrointestinal disturbances, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, etc., may occur and should be discussed with a doctor if severe. Alcohol may increase the risk of side effects with this medication, so alcoholic beverages should be avoided while taking it. In cases where surgery is planned, the medication should be stopped 48 hours prior, and should only be resumed after verifying normal kidney function post-surgery. Elderly patients may have an increased risk of kidney function decrease; thus, dosage adjustments and regular kidney function tests are needed. During the course of treatment, regular checks of blood glucose, kidney function, and blood tests should be conducted to monitor for abnormalities. In case of overdose, visit a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment, and blood dialysis may be necessary.
