Through this, it plays a crucial role in maintaining stable blood sugar levels in patients. Ultimately, this medicine is effectively used for blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
This medicine is generally taken twice daily with food, and the dosage is to be gradually increased to minimize gastrointestinal side effects caused by metformin. 1. For patients not currently treated with metformin: - Initial dose is 50/500 mg of this medicine, taken twice daily at a dose of 1 tablet - On increasing dosage, 50/1000 mg of this medicine may be taken twice daily at a dose of 1 tablet. 2. For patients being treated with metformin:
This medicine aids in blood sugar control. However, during the course of treatment, severe allergic reactions may occur, so if skin rash, hives, or difficulty breathing develops, you should immediately stop taking this medicine and consult a doctor. Additionally, pancreatitis, a serious inflammation of the pancreas, can occur rarely, so symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting should be reported to a doctor immediately. This medicine should not be used in patients with significantly reduced kidney function, acute heart disease, severe infection, or dehydration. Before and after undergoing tests with iodine contrast agents, the use of this medicine must be temporarily discontinued, and treatment should only be resumed once kidney function has been confirmed to be normal. It is safest for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and for nursing mothers, to avoid taking this medicine. This medicine can cause hypoglycemia, so special caution should be exercised when meal intake is irregular or insufficient, or when taken alongside other blood glucose-lowering agents. While taking this medicine, regular kidney function and blood tests should be conducted, and any unusual symptoms should be reported to healthcare professionals immediately. Additionally, consuming alcohol may increase the risk of side effects from this medicine, so it is advisable to avoid drinking while on this medication. In case of scheduled surgery, stop taking this medicine 48 hours prior, and only resume after confirming normal kidney function post-surgery. Elderly patients may experience decreased kidney function, thus requiring dosage adjustments and regular kidney function monitoring. Common side effects while taking this medicine may include diarrhea, headache, upper respiratory infections, although most are mild. Finally, in the case of an overdose of this medicine, you should visit a hospital immediately for appropriate treatment, as some ingredients can be removed by dialysis.
