View approved original text

In high-risk adult patients with coronary artery disease, monotherapy with atorvastatin effectively reduces LDL-cholesterol levels. However, triglyceride levels may not be adequately controlled with this therapy alone. Particularly in patients with mixed dyslipidemia, atorvastatin primarily focuses on improving LDL-cholesterol. For this reason, atorvastatin is used to reduce cardiovascular disease risk by controlling LDL-cholesterol levels.
