Improvement of selenium deficiency
This injection is used to supply selenium to patients with selenium deficiency that cannot be adequately supplemented by nutrition alone. Selenium is an essential trace element in our body, and deficiency can lead to various health problems. This medicine especially helps in effectively improving selenium deficiency. Therefore, it is used to treat or prevent symptoms caused by selenium deficiency.
Inject 100 μg of selenium daily via intramuscular or intravenous injection. If necessary, the dosage can be increased up to 200 μg daily. If administered as an addition to total parenteral nutrition (TPN) basic injection, the daily dose must be 100 μg of selenium.
This drug contains selenium and should not be used in patients with selenium toxicity. People who are allergic to this drug or any of its ingredients should not be administered this drug. Rarely, when this drug is injected, pain or allergic reactions may occur at the injection site. If symptoms such as dermatitis, foul odor during sweating or breathing, hair loss, agitation, or vomiting occur, administration should be stopped immediately. When mixing this drug with other intravenous solutions, care should be taken not to cause precipitation. If the solution's acidity (pH) is too low or mixed with reducing agents like vitamin C, selenium may precipitate and not be absorbed in the body. When mixed with other drugs, always check for precipitation or color change, and do not use if abnormalities are found. This drug contains sodium, and patients on a low-sodium diet should consider this. In pregnant women or women of childbearing potential, this drug should only be administered cautiously when the benefits outweigh the risks. This drug can also be passed into breast milk, so nursing mothers should carefully decide whether to administer the drug and whether to continue breastfeeding. In case of overdose, symptoms such as a garlic-like odor from the mouth, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, and chronic overdose may affect nail and hair growth and cause neurological disorders. In case of overdose, measures such as gastric lavage, diuresis, or high-dose vitamin C administration should be taken, and very large amounts may require dialysis. This drug should be stored out of the reach of children and kept in a dry place at room temperature, maintaining its packaging. It should be used immediately after opening, and transferring it to other containers is not good for quality maintenance and safety, so caution is advised.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This drug should be stored in a sealed container to protect it from air and light exposure. Additionally, it should be kept in a cool, dry place at a temperature between 15 and 25 degrees to maintain its effectiveness.
