Icosa Soft Capsule 300 Milligrams (Eicosapentaenoic Acid Ethyl)

Adult dose

1. Improvement of ulcers, pain, and coldness due to arteriosclerosis obliterans Adults: Administer 600mg (2 capsules) of ethyl icosapentate per dose orally 3 times daily immediately after meals. 2. Hyperlipidemia Administer 900mg (3 capsules) of ethyl icosapentate per dose orally twice daily, or 600mg (2 capsules) per dose orally 3 times daily immediately after meals. If triglyceride levels are abnormal, the dose may be increased, if necessary, to 900mg (3 capsules) per dose 3 times daily.

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to its components. Caution is required when administering to patients with bleeding, as hemostasis may be difficult. It should be used with caution in patients who are menstruating, have a tendency for bleeding, or are scheduled for surgery, as the risk of bleeding may increase. Patients at high risk of bleeding due to severe trauma or liver disease should also be cautious when taking this medication. Patients with fish allergies may show hypersensitivity reactions to this medication, so care should be taken. Patients taking anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs should consult a healthcare professional, as bleeding risk may increase. Regular liver function tests are recommended as liver dysfunction or jaundice symptoms may occur; if any abnormalities arise, the medication should be stopped immediately. Caution is necessary for patients with a history of heart disease, as there is a risk of arrhythmia such as atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter. Various side effects may occur including skin rashes, itching, tendency to bleed, gastrointestinal symptoms, headaches, dizziness, muscle pain, etc. and medical attention should be sought if symptoms worsen. When using this medication for hyperlipidemia treatment, it should be accompanied by dietary and exercise therapy along with regular blood tests, and if ineffective, it should be discontinued. Caution is required for patients with uncontrolled hypertension or those taking other antiplatelet agents, as there may be a risk of intracranial hemorrhage. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits outweigh the risks, and it is advisable to avoid administration while breastfeeding. Safety in children has not been confirmed, so it is preferable to avoid use in this population. This medication should be taken immediately after meals for optimal absorption and should be swallowed whole without chewing. Keep out of reach of children and store in a tightly closed container, avoiding exposure to heat, moisture, and light after opening; it is advisable not to transfer to other containers.
