This medication is used to prevent and treat vitamin D deficiency in the elderly and adolescents who are lacking vitamin D. It is also effective for treating adults with vitamin D deficiency. It helps improve vitamin D deficiency across all age groups.

How it is given

Adult administration

Use as prescribed by a physician, checking the blood level of 25-hydroxy vitamin D to adjust the dose. For adults, administer 200,000 IU of cholecalciferol by intramuscular injection. The annual administration should not exceed 600,000 IU of cholecalciferol.

Child administration

For adolescents, administer 200,000 IU of cholecalciferol by intramuscular injection.

Precautions

This medication is a vitamin D supplement, and to avoid excessive dosage, it is important to check the total vitamin D content when taking treatment agents or fortified foods containing vitamin D. Regularly check the calcium levels in the blood and urine, and discontinue use if serum calcium exceeds 10.5mg/dL or urinary calcium excretion exceeds certain thresholds. If calcium intake is high, calcium levels in the blood and urine should be monitored more carefully, and when using ampoule injections, be careful to cut the container to prevent glass fragments from mixing. Special attention should be given to children and the elderly. This medication should not be administered to certain patients, such as those allergic to the drug's components or those with hypercalcemia, kidney stones, renal impairment, immobilization, or pregnant or breastfeeding women. Various side effects, such as headaches, fatigue, muscle pain, digestive disorders, dehydration, hypertension, renal issues, and arrhythmias, may occur. If any unusual symptoms arise, consult your healthcare provider immediately. Regularly monitor vitamin D levels in the blood and parathyroid hormone levels, particularly in patients with renal impairment or those taking certain medications. This medication can interact with other drugs, so precautions are needed when taking it alongside anticonvulsants, diuretics, antacids, anticoagulants, etc. It is advisable not to use this medication during pregnancy. In case of overdose, discontinue vitamin D administration, reduce calcium intake, and increase fluid intake. Do not mix this medication with other drugs, use it quickly after opening, and dispose of any remaining medication.

Storage
