Treatment of hyperlipidemia (hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia)
This medication is used for the treatment of primary hyperlipidemia. It is primarily effective for hypercholesterolemia (Type IIa), mixed hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia (Type IIb), and hypertriglyceridemia (Type IV). It helps improve cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, this drug is used to manage dyslipidemia.
As fenofibric acid, take 110mg (1 tablet) orally once daily, and dietary therapy must be followed. This medication can be taken regardless of meals.
This drug should not be used in patients with severe liver dysfunction or biliary disease. Additionally, patients with severely impaired renal function, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should not take this medication. Patients with allergic reactions to this drug or genetic metabolic disorders such as lactose intolerance should also avoid taking it. Care should be taken when administering to patients with renal or hepatic issues, or those with hypoalbuminemia, and medical consultation is required before use in children. Various side effects such as altered liver function, skin rashes, dizziness, and muscle pain may occur during administration, so immediate medical consultation is necessary if abnormal symptoms arise. In particular, patients with renal dysfunction may experience muscle damage and worsening renal function, so regular kidney function tests are required. Furthermore, this medication may interact with other drugs, necessitating dose adjustments and caution when taken with anticoagulants, antidiabetic agents, certain lipid-lowering agents, etc. It is safest for pregnant or nursing women not to take this drug, and elderly patients should be particularly cautious due to a higher likelihood of impaired liver and kidney function. There are no specific antidotes for overdose, so strict adherence to the prescribed dosage and administration is essential.
