This medication is used to prevent and treat vitamin D deficiency in elderly people, adolescents, and adults. Since vitamin D deficiency can hinder bone health, it helps improve health by supplementing vitamin D.

How it is given

Adult administration

200,000 IU of cholecalciferol is administered via intramuscular injection. Elderly patients receive 100,000 IU of cholecalciferol via intramuscular injection. Ensure that the annual dosage does not exceed 600,000 IU of cholecalciferol.

Child administration

Adolescents receive 200,000 IU of cholecalciferol via intramuscular injection.

Precautions

This medication contains vitamin D, so overdosing should be avoided. When used with vitamin D fortified foods or other treatments, the total vitamin D intake should always be checked. Regularly check the calcium levels in the blood and urine, and if calcium levels become too high, discontinue use. It is especially important to monitor more frequently when calcium intake is high.
