Adjunctive therapy for hypertension and dyslipidemia (cholesterol, etc.)
This medication is used for patients who need to control both blood pressure and cholesterol levels simultaneously. The combination of telmisartan and amlodipine helps in the treatment of essential hypertension when blood pressure is insufficiently controlled with monotherapy. Additionally, the combination of rosuvastatin and ezetimibe is used to lower bad cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing good cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. This medication is prescribed for patients who are already receiving two or more components and require additional blood pressure and lipid control. In summary, this medication is effective in managing both essential hypertension and dyslipidemia simultaneously.
This medication is administered to adults only, and the recommended dosage is one tablet once daily. It should be taken with water regardless of meals, and preferably at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). Do not chew, divide, or crush; take the whole tablet. The recommended dosage for the telmisartan/amlodipine combination is once daily, and it can be switched to the combination after dose adjustment of the individual components if necessary. For patients with liver impairment, the daily dose of telmisartan should not exceed 40 milligrams.
This medication can pose serious risks to the fetus, so it should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. Additionally, this medication should not be administered to patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function, muscle disorders, or certain allergic conditions. If symptoms of muscle pain or weakness occur, immediate consultation with a physician is necessary as there is a risk of severe muscle damage. Liver and kidney function should be regularly monitored for abnormalities during treatment with this medication. Low blood pressure may occur, and if symptoms of hypotension appear, healthcare professionals should be notified immediately. Patients with diabetes or moderate to severe impairment of kidney function should be careful not to take this medication with certain other medications. This medication may interact with other drugs; therefore, it is essential to inform healthcare providers about any other medications being taken. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur during treatment, so caution is advised when driving or operating hazardous machinery. It is advisable not to excessively consume alcohol, especially in patients with a history of liver disease. This medication contains certain dye components, so patients allergic to these should avoid using it. If symptoms such as muscle pain, fatigue, rash, or difficulty breathing occur during treatment, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is required.
