This medication can adequately control LDL cholesterol levels with atorvastatin 20mg monotherapy in adult patients at high risk for coronary heart disease; however, it is used for the treatment of combined dyslipidemia when triglyceride levels are difficult to manage.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

For adults only, administering 4 capsules (1,000mg Omega-3 Acid Ethyl Ester/5mg Atorvastatin per capsule) once daily with meals to avoid gastrointestinal disturbances.

Precautions

This medication may cause muscle-related symptoms; therefore, if severe muscle pain or weakness occurs or creatine kinase levels increase significantly, treatment should be discontinued immediately and the physician should be consulted. This medication should not be used in patients with impaired liver function or liver disease, and regular liver function tests should be performed. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding should not take this medication, and women of childbearing age should use appropriate contraception while on this medication. Children under 18 years of age should not use this medication due to the lack of established safety and efficacy. Use with caution in patients with a history of alcohol addiction or liver disease, kidney dysfunction, hypothyroidism, or a family history of muscular disorders. Interactions may occur when taken with other medications, especially in combination with certain antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, some cardiovascular drugs, and fibrates, so caution is advised. During the course of this medication, if symptoms such as muscle pain, fatigue, or fever appear, inform the physician immediately and undergo testing, and discontinue use if severe adverse reactions are suspected. Elderly patients may be at increased risk of myopathy; use with caution. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and treatment should be symptomatic while monitoring liver function and muscle enzyme levels. Store this medication out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to other containers.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, mouth/eye mucosal pain, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory issues accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice manifested by yellowing of the skin or eyes, extreme drowsiness, sudden and severe headaches, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, urination changes.
