How to take

Adult dose

This medication is typically administered once daily with the evening meal. The dosage is adjusted gradually to minimize gastrointestinal side effects associated with Metformin. The 20/1000mg extended-release tablet is taken as one tablet once daily. The 10/750mg or 10/500mg extended-release tablets are taken as two tablets once daily. Precautions

This medication helps regulate blood glucose levels. However, it can very rarely cause a serious condition known as lactic acidosis, which can be life-threatening, so caution is necessary. When used with other diabetes medications, there is a risk of hypoglycemia, so blood glucose levels should be closely monitored. This medication is not administered to patients with moderate or worse kidney impairment, or serious heart problems such as heart failure or acute myocardial infarction. Prior to and after tests using iodinated contrast agents, this medication should be discontinued for a certain period, and it should be resumed only after confirming normal kidney function. It is also safest not to use this medication in women who are pregnant or possibly pregnant, or in patients with severe liver impairment. This medication can increase the risk of hypoglycemia, so patients taking insulin or sulfonylureas should be well aware of hypoglycemic symptoms. If severe abdominal pain, vomiting, difficulty breathing, or lethargy occurs during use, immediate medical attention should be sought. Additionally, although rare, serious side effects such as interstitial pneumonia and vesicular skin disorders have been reported, so it is crucial to promptly report any abnormal symptoms. This medication requires dosage adjustment based on kidney function, and elderly patients should undergo regular kidney function tests. In case of overdose, blood dialysis can remove the drug, so if overdose is suspected, immediate medical attention is required. Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so abstaining from drinking during treatment is advised. Vitamin B12 levels may decrease, so it is recommended to check regularly through blood tests. Lastly, when performing tasks that require attention, such as driving or operating machinery, one should be aware of symptoms of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis.
