How to take

Adult dose

This medication is generally taken once daily with the evening meal. Take one 20/1000 mg extended-release tablet once daily. Precautions

This medication helps control blood sugar levels. When taking this medication, there is a risk of rare side effects such as severe lactic acidosis, so if symptoms like shortness of breath, muscle pain, weakness, or abdominal pain occur, consult a doctor immediately. Patients with poor kidney function may face risks when taking this medication, hence regular kidney function tests are necessary. Patients with serious cardiovascular conditions such as heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, or sepsis should avoid this medication. If undergoing tests involving radiocontrast agents, discontinue this medication 48 hours prior to the test and resume only after kidney function is confirmed to be normal. This medication is not suitable for patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Patients with impaired liver function, excessive alcohol consumption, or severe pulmonary diseases should also exercise caution while using this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should avoid this medication. When taken with other antidiabetic medications, there may be symptoms of hypoglycemia, so it is vital to be informed about hypoglycemia symptoms and how to manage them. Regular blood and kidney function tests during the course of this medication are recommended, and it is advisable to check vitamin B12 levels as well. If severe abdominal pain or vomiting persists, it may indicate acute pancreatitis, and medical personnel should be notified immediately. This medication has not established safety and efficacy in children, so it is not used in that population. Elderly individuals may experience decreased kidney function, thus necessitating dose adjustments and kidney function monitoring.
