How to take

Adult dose

This medication is generally administered once daily with the evening meal. The 20/1000 mg extended-release tablet is taken once daily at a dose of 1 tablet. Patients taking the 10/750 mg or 10/500 mg extended-release tablets should take 2 tablets simultaneously once daily. For patients who cannot achieve adequate blood glucose control with metformin monotherapy, the initial dosage of this medication should be 20 mg of teneligliptin once daily along with metformin.

Precautions

This medication is used for treating diabetes and should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function or severe heart disease. While taking this medication, there is a rare but serious risk of lactic acidosis, a life-threatening side effect. Symptoms such as difficulty breathing, muscle pain, abdominal pain, and weakness should prompt immediate consultation with a physician. When taken with other diabetes medications or insulin, hypoglycemia may occur; therefore, it is important to be aware of the signs of low blood sugar and respond appropriately if necessary.
