Improvement in blood sugar control for type 2 diabetes
This medication is prescribed to assist patients with type 2 diabetes in controlling their blood sugar levels. The combination of teneligliptin and metformin supports dietary and exercise therapy and effectively improves blood sugar. Consistent use will significantly aid in blood sugar management.
This medication is generally administered once daily with the evening meal. Extended release 20/1000 mg is taken as one tablet once daily. Extended release 10/750 mg or 10/500 mg is taken as two tablets once daily. The maximum recommended daily dose is teneligliptin 20 mg and extended-release metformin 2000 mg. To maintain its extended-release properties, do not split, crush, chew, or grind.
This medication may cause a rare side effect known as severe lactic acidosis; if symptoms occur, you must inform your doctor immediately. It is not to be given to patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, heart failure, acute cardiac issues, or severe infections. Before and after undergoing examinations using iodine contrast agents, this medication must be discontinued and only resumed once normal kidney function is confirmed. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take this medication. Caution is needed when taking this medication in conjunction with insulin or other antidiabetic medications due to the risk of hypoglycemia; if hypoglycemic symptoms occur, sugar should be consumed immediately. If severe abdominal pain, vomiting, constipation, difficulty breathing, fever, skin rash, or other severe symptoms occur during use, consult a doctor immediately. Elderly patients or those with weakened kidney function should regularly undergo kidney function tests as dosage adjustment may be necessary. Alcohol intake may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so drinking should be avoided while on this medication. There may be interactions when taken with certain drugs, so inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medications. This medication has not been established for safety and efficacy in children, so it is not used in this population. Women who are breastfeeding should consult their doctor regarding whether to discontinue breastfeeding or the medication.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, jaundice, liver dysfunction (elevated AST(GOT), ALT(GPT), etc.), interstitial pneumonia, similar to pemphigus, acute pancreatitis, sudden and severe headache, seizures, confusion, vision changes, paralysis, severe edema, abnormal urination

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture. Additionally, it is best to keep the medication at room temperature between 1°C to 30°C, away from extreme heat or cold.
