This medication is used to assist in blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes who are taking teneligliptin and metformin together, in conjunction with diet and exercise therapies. In other words, it helps effectively manage blood sugar levels for diabetes treatment.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is generally administered once daily with dinner. The 20/1000mg sustained-release tablet is taken once daily at a dose of one tablet. The 10/750mg or 10/500mg sustained-release tablets are taken once daily at a dose of two tablets simultaneously. The initial dose provides teneligliptin 20mg once daily along with the existing dose of metformin. Sustained-release formulations must be swallowed whole without splitting, crushing, or chewing.

Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes and should not be administered to patients with poor kidney function or weak heart function. While taking this medication, there is a rare risk of developing lactic acidosis, a dangerous condition, so symptoms should be reported to medical personnel immediately. Also, caution should be exercised when taking this medication in conjunction with other diabetes medications such as insulin or sulfonylureas, as hypoglycemic symptoms may arise.
