Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication can be administered to patients taking 100 mg of sitagliptin and 10 mg of dapagliflozin, with one tablet taken once daily regardless of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole.

Precautions

This medication is a combination of sitagliptin and dapagliflozin. First, it is essential to check whether you have had an allergic reaction to any components in this medication before taking it. Allergic reactions can be severe and may manifest as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling in the face or neck. This medication may cause severe side effects such as pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas. If abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea occurs during use, consult a doctor immediately. There may be a rare complication known as diabetic ketoacidosis, so be aware of symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, and difficulty breathing. Ketoacidosis can occur even if blood sugar levels are within normal ranges, so report any symptoms to healthcare professionals immediately. This medication can affect kidney function, so it is advisable to avoid use in patients with kidney disease or those undergoing dialysis. Patients with reduced kidney function may need dosage adjustment, and regular kidney function tests are recommended. Dapagliflozin may cause fluid volume reduction and low blood pressure; therefore, elderly patients or those on diuretics should periodically monitor their blood pressure and fluid status. This medication may increase the risk of genital infections and urinary tract infections; if symptoms of infection (itching, pain, increased discharge, etc.) occur, inform a doctor and seek treatment immediately. It is safest for women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as well as those breastfeeding, to avoid this medication. If pregnancy is confirmed, discontinue use immediately, and avoid use while breastfeeding as well. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children and adolescents under 18 years old have not been established, so use is not recommended. Taking this medication together with insulin or sulfonylureas may increase the risk of hypoglycemia; thus, caution for hypoglycemic symptoms and possible dosage adjustments are necessary when combined with these medications. In case of overdose, visit a medical facility immediately for appropriate treatment; dialysis is generally not recommended to remove this medication. Finally, exercise caution when driving or operating machinery while taking this medication, especially if hypoglycemic symptoms occur.
