View approved original text

This medication helps prevent pregnancy when taken immediately after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure, within 120 hours (5 days) post-coitus. It assists in providing effective emergency contraception in sudden situations.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet of this medicine as soon as possible, and no later than 120 hours (5 days), after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure. If vomiting occurs within 3 hours after taking the tablet, take 1 tablet of this medicine again immediately. It may be taken regardless of meals and at any time during the menstrual cycle.

Precautions

This drug is intended for temporary use as an emergency contraceptive. It should not be used as a substitute for regular contraceptive methods. Taking this medication does not guarantee the prevention of all pregnancies; a pregnancy test should be conducted if there is abnormal bleeding near the expected menstrual date or if menstruation has not occurred 7 days after the due date. Individuals who are pregnant or have allergies to the main ingredient of this medication or other components should not take this drug. Additionally, those with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance should also avoid it. If there is a risk of ectopic pregnancy, and lower abdominal pain occurs after taking the medication, it is necessary to confirm the possibility of ectopic pregnancy. Caution is also needed for individuals with severe asthma or significant liver dysfunction. This medication may cause various side effects such as headache, dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain, skin rash, and menstrual irregularities, most of which are mild to moderate and recover shortly. There may be changes in the menstrual cycle, and menstruation may start earlier or be delayed than usual. It is important to take caution, especially if menstruation is delayed for more than 20 days. It is safest to take this medication just once a month, as repeated doses can increase hormone levels and exacerbate side effects. Therefore, it is advisable not to take it repeatedly. This drug does not prevent sexually transmitted diseases or HIV infection, so it is recommended to use non-hormonal contraceptive methods such as condoms during intercourse. Interactions with other medications may occur, particularly with those that induce or inhibit specific liver enzymes, which can increase or decrease the efficacy of this medication; hence caution is advised. Do not take this medication if pregnant or potentially pregnant, and it is safe to refrain from breastfeeding for at least one week after taking it while breastfeeding. The safety for children and adolescents has not been sufficiently verified. There have been no reports of serious side effects from overdose, but it is crucial to adhere to the recommended dosage.
