This medication helps lower high total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo-B protein, and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, and increases good HDL-cholesterol levels. It can also be used to effectively control serum cholesterol levels in pediatric patients aged 10 to 16 with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. This drug acts as an adjunct to dietary therapy and helps improve hyperlipidemic conditions, contributing to reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It is used as a therapy that is very helpful in managing serum lipid levels.

For example, patients with allergies to any of the components of this drug, those with active liver disease, severe liver dysfunction, or biliary obstruction, patients taking cyclosporine, those with myopathy, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, nursing mothers, and patients with hereditary issues such as lactose intolerance should not use this medication.
