Reduction of hypertension and cardiovascular disease risk, improvement of dyslipidemia
This drug is prescribed for patients who need to use two drugs, telmisartan and rosuvastatin/ezetimibe, simultaneously. Telmisartan is mainly used for the treatment of essential hypertension and has the effect of reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It particularly lowers the risk of cardiovascular complications such as myocardial infarction or stroke in high-risk patients over 55 years of age who cannot use ACE inhibitors. Rosuvastatin/ezetimibe helps control cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, reducing blood levels of bad cholesterol (LDL-C) and triglycerides, and increasing good cholesterol (HDL-C). This combination of medications is used to improve cardiovascular health and effectively manage the risk of related diseases.
This medication is taken once daily, 1 tablet, with or without food, together with water. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning) if possible. Telmisartan - Essential Hypertension: The recommended dose is 40 mg orally once daily, which may be effective at 20 mg for some patients, and can be increased up to 80 mg if necessary. - Reduction of cardiovascular disease risk: The recommended dose is 80 mg orally once daily. - Hepatic
This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy; therefore, treatment should be stopped immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Additionally, some components of this medication may rarely cause kidney damage due to muscle breakdown, so the drug should be stopped or temporarily discontinued if symptoms of acute severe muscle problems or conditions with a high risk of muscle damage occur. Patients who are allergic to any ingredients of this drug, those with severe liver dysfunction, muscle disorders, specific renal function impairment, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and cases where certain drugs should not be used concurrently should not take this medication. Since liver and muscle issues can arise, patients with weak liver function or a history of liver disease should undergo liver function tests before taking the drug and continue to have regular check-ups during treatment. If symptoms like muscle pain, muscle weakness, fatigue, fever, etc., occur, they should inform a doctor immediately and undergo testing, especially if muscle enzyme levels are significantly elevated, treatment should be discontinued. Elderly patients, those with diabetes, kidney disease, and hypothyroidism are at higher risk of muscle damage and should use caution during treatment. Blood pressure may drop too low, leading to symptoms of dizziness or fainting; therefore, patients should consult medical personnel immediately if they experience these symptoms after taking the medication. This drug may interact with other medications, so patients should inform their doctor or pharmacist of any other medications they are currently taking. Additionally, this medication may increase blood potassium levels, so patients at risk of hyperkalemia need regular blood tests. Caution is needed as dizziness may occur while driving or operating machinery. It is important to continue an appropriate diet regimen while taking this medication and to identify and treat other causes of dyslipidemia. Regular monitoring of liver function and muscle status before and during the use of this medication is essential, and treatment should be stopped immediately if abnormalities are found.
