This medication is effective for rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease), ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, acute gout, and dysmenorrhea. It can also be used for bursitis and skeletal muscle disorders (sprains, strains, trauma, low back pain), postoperative pain, migraine, and pain after tooth extraction. It helps alleviate discomfort from various joint and musculoskeletal disorders and pain, improving patients' quality of life.
1. Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis: Administer 250-500 mg of naproxen orally twice daily (every 12 hours). 2. Acute gout: Take 750 mg as an initial dose orally, followed by 250 mg orally every 8 hours until the attack resolves. 3. Skeletal muscle disorders, postoperative pain, pain after tooth extraction, dysmenorrhea, tendinitis, bursitis: Take 500 mg of naproxen orally as an initial dose, followed by further doses of 250 mg every 6-8 hours as needed, not exceeding a total daily dosage of 1,250 mg.
This medication can cause gastrointestinal bleeding if taken by someone who regularly consumes more than three alcoholic beverages daily, so it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist. Patients with cardiovascular diseases or risk factors should be cautious, as taking this medication may increase the risk of cardiovascular issues such as myocardial infarction or stroke. This medication can cause serious gastrointestinal issues such as ulcers, bleeding, or perforation, especially in the elderly or long-term users. Patients with specific health conditions, such as peptic ulcers, severe blood disorders, liver impairment, heart failure, kidney disease, or high blood pressure, should not take this medication. Patients with hypersensitivity or allergies to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin, should also refrain from using this medication. Patients with a history of peptic ulcers, blood disorders, liver or kidney impairment, cardiac dysfunction, hypertension, or bronchial asthma should use this medication cautiously. This medication can occasionally cause various adverse reactions, such as shortness of breath, low blood pressure, rashes, gastrointestinal bleeding, hepatitis, kidney problems, headache, dizziness, skin rashes, etc., so if symptoms occur, it is crucial to consult a doctor immediately. Before taking this medication, it is essential to use the minimum effective dosage and duration for the intended treatment, and it is necessary to undergo appropriate testing and follow the doctor's guidelines based on chronic or acute conditions. Caution should be taken when using this medication in conjunction with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, some anticonvulsants, hypoglycemic agents, beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, diuretics, anticoagulants, etc., as it may increase the risk of side effects or alter effectiveness. During pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, it should be avoided due to potential harm to the fetus, and nursing mothers should also refrain from taking this medication. It is advisable not to use this medication in children under the age of 2, as safety has not been established, and elderly patients should start with a small dose and use it cautiously. In case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness, indigestion, and vomiting may occur, so immediate medical attention is required.
