View approved original text

This medicine lowers total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, apo-B protein, and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia while increasing HDL-cholesterol levels. It is particularly used in pediatric patients with familial hypercholesterolemia aged 10 to 16 years who have an LDL-cholesterol level above a certain threshold or a family history of cardiovascular disease, assisting alongside dietary therapy. This medication is effectively used as an adjunct to dietary therapy to improve lipid levels.
