Adjunctive treatment for hypertension and dyslipidemia (cholesterol, etc.)
This medication is developed for patients with essential hypertension who are using a combination of telmisartan and amlodipine but are not adequately controlling their blood pressure, as well as for patients taking a combination of rosuvastatin and ezetimibe who need control of dyslipidemia. It is primarily used to treat hypertension and dyslipidemia, assisting in further improvement of blood pressure and cholesterol levels when existing therapies are not controlled. Specifically, this medication is effective in lowering total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, ApoB protein, and triglycerides while increasing HDL cholesterol levels. Therefore, this medication is suitable for patients who require simultaneous management of blood pressure and lipids, supporting safe and effective treatment.
This medication is restricted to adult use only, and it should be taken once daily, 1 tablet with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). The recommended dosage for the telmisartan/amlodipine combination is once daily, adjusting doses to 40/5 milligrams, 80/5 milligrams, or 40/10 milligrams based on blood pressure control. Liver impairment patients should limit the daily dosage of telmisartan to 40 milligrams or less and in elderly patients.
This drug can cause severe harm to the fetus if administered during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. If symptoms of myalgia or muscle weakness occur, notify a physician immediately and undergo testing; if severe, discontinue the drug. This medication should not be administered to patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function, certain muscle disorders, or certain liver diseases. It should also be avoided in patients with excessively low blood pressure or severely compromised cardiac function, and those in an unstable state following acute myocardial infarction. There may be interactions with other drugs, so you must inform your doctor or pharmacist of any medications currently being taken. This medication has blood pressure-lowering effects, which may lead to symptoms of hypotension; caution should be exercised if dizziness or light-headedness occurs. If symptoms of liver function impairment or muscular abnormalities (such as myalgia or muscle spasms) arise, get tested immediately and discontinue the drug if necessary. During the course of this medication, it is important to regularly conduct blood tests to check liver function, kidney function, and muscle enzyme levels. Caution should be exercised if there is excessive alcohol consumption or a history of liver disease, and if liver function impairment is suspected, consult medical personnel immediately. This medication may cause allergic reactions or skin rashes, so if any abnormal symptoms occur, the drug should be discontinued immediately and medical personnel should be informed. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur; caution is needed when driving or operating dangerous machinery. This drug contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not take it. Women of childbearing age who require contraception must use appropriate contraceptive methods during the course of this medication. If sudden muscle pain, weakness, malaise, fever, etc., occur while taking this medication, consult a doctor immediately.
