Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes and contains two active ingredients, sitagliptin and metformin. When taking this medication, there is a possibility of hypersensitivity reactions; if symptoms such as allergic reactions, skin rashes, or difficulty breathing occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. There is a risk of serious inflammation of the pancreas, known as acute pancreatitis, so if abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal pain occur, you should visit a hospital immediately. Patients with poor kidney function or those experiencing severe infections or dehydration should not take this medication. Additionally, if you are receiving iodinated contrast agents for radiographic examinations, this medication should be suspended for a period around the examination, and you should resume taking it only after confirming normal kidney function. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as children under 18 years of age, should not use this medication as a precaution. During the course of this medication, be cautious of symptoms of hypoglycemia, especially when taken with other hypoglycemic agents or insulin, as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase. The metformin component can rarely cause severe metabolic disturbances known as lactic acidosis, so it should be discontinued in cases of severe dehydration, acute illness, or liver dysfunction. It is important to regularly monitor kidney function, blood tests, and vitamin B12 levels for any abnormalities. If you consume alcohol excessively, the risk of lactic acidosis may increase, so it is advisable to avoid drinking. In case of surgery, this medication should be discontinued 48 hours prior to the surgery, and resuming treatment should only occur after confirming normal kidney function post-surgery. Elderly patients may require dose adjustments based on kidney function, and regular monitoring of kidney function is recommended. If you experience any unusual symptoms or discomfort while taking this medication, consult medical personnel immediately.
