This medication is used in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. Sitagliptin and Metformin act together to effectively lower and control blood sugar levels. Therefore, it is appropriately used for patients who need blood sugar management.
This 100/1000 mg extended-release tablet is taken once daily, with one tablet per dose. Patients taking the 50/500 mg extended-release tablet or the 50/1000 mg extended-release tablet should take two tablets simultaneously once daily. 1. For patients currently not receiving Metformin therapy: The initial dose is a total of Sitagliptin 100 mg and Metformin 1000 mg per day. If adequate blood sugar control is difficult to achieve
This medication is a diabetes treatment that contains both Sitagliptin and Metformin. While taking this medication, severe allergic reactions may occur, so if symptoms like skin rash, hives, or breathing difficulties occur, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a doctor. There is a risk of pancreatitis, so if abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort occurs, visit a hospital immediately. The Metformin component can cause a dangerous condition called lactic acidosis, so it is important not to take this medication if renal function is impaired, or if there are symptoms of dehydration, severe infections, or heart problems. Also, patients with acute heart failure or those undergoing certain tests (iodinated contrast studies) should not receive this medication, and it should be avoided by pregnant or breastfeeding women. This medication should be administered with particular caution to patients with reduced renal function or the elderly, and regular renal function tests are necessary. During treatment, hypoglycemia may occur, so be careful when skipping meals or engaging in vigorous exercise, and the risk of hypoglycemia can increase when taken with other blood sugar-lowering agents. It is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication, as alcohol can increase the risk of side effects. Patients scheduled for surgery should stop taking this medication 48 hours before the surgery and should not resume until renal function is confirmed normal after the procedure. This medication may reduce vitamin B12 levels, so regular monitoring of vitamin B12 levels is recommended during prolonged use. Lastly, it is crucial to consult a doctor immediately if any unusual symptoms occur during the administration of this medication to take appropriate action.
Hives, angioedema, anaphylaxis, exfoliative skin diseases (including Stevens-Johnson syndrome), acute pancreatitis, severe hypoglycemia, acute renal failure, bullous pemphigoid, increased liver enzymes, liver abnormalities (jaundice), severe lactic acidosis, severe edema, acute heart failure, cardiovascular collapse (shock), acute myocardial infarction, severe rash and blisters with fever, cold sweat, pallor, chest tightness, breathing difficulties, shortness of breath.
Diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infection, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, nasopharyngitis, constipation, muscle pain, limb pain, back pain, itching, thrombocytopenia, rhabdomyolysis, hypoglycemia, joint pain with severe and disabling conditions.
