Improvement in blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication helps to control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes through the combination of sitagliptin and metformin. It can effectively manage blood sugar levels when used in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapies, thereby improving blood sugar control and contributing to the prevention of diabetic complications.
In diabetes therapy, the dosage of this medication should be determined based on each patient's current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerability within the limits of the maximum recommended daily doses of sitagliptin 100 mg and metformin 2000 mg. This medication should be taken once daily during dinner to minimize gastrointestinal side effects caused by metformin, and the dosage should be gradually increased. Extended-release characteristics
This medication is used to treat diabetes and contains two components: sitagliptin and metformin. Firstly, a serious allergic reaction may rarely occur while taking this medication, so if you experience symptoms such as rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck, you should stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor. Secondly, this medication may cause pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas. If symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or fever occur, immediate medical attention should be sought. Thirdly, due to the metformin component, there is a risk of lactic acidosis, a rare but serious metabolic disorder. If symptoms such as severe fatigue, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, or confusion appear, you should go to the hospital immediately. Fourthly, patients with impaired kidney function or severe infections or dehydration should not take this medication, and if currently taking it, kidney function should be regularly monitored. Fifthly, this medication should not be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women, and its safety has not been established for children under 18. Sixthly, during treatment with this medication, vigorous exercise, irregular meals, or interactions with other medications may lead to hypoglycemia; therefore, blood sugar levels should be checked frequently, and symptoms should be monitored closely. Seventhly, if you are undergoing surgery, you must discontinue this medication at least 48 hours prior and can only resume after confirming that kidney function has returned to normal post-surgery. Lastly, during treatment with this medication, regular blood tests and kidney function tests should be conducted, and since vitamin B12 levels may decrease, supplementation may be necessary if needed. It is important to follow the precautions mentioned above while taking this medication and to consult healthcare professionals immediately if any abnormal symptoms occur.
