How to take

Adult dose

This 100/1000 mg extended-release tablet is to be taken once a day, with one tablet per dose. Patients taking 50/500 mg extended-release tablets or 50/1000 mg extended-release tablets should take two tablets simultaneously once a day. 1. For patients who are not currently treated with metformin: The initial dosage of this medication is a total daily dose of 100 mg sitagliptin and 1000 mg metformin. Precautions

This medication contains both sitagliptin and metformin and is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. First, there may be allergic reactions while taking this medication, so if symptoms such as skin rashes, hives, or difficulty breathing occur, you should stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. In addition, serious inflammation of the pancreas known as pancreatitis may occur, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or fever arise, you must inform a healthcare professional immediately. Due to the metformin component, there is a rare but life-threatening risk of lactic acidosis. If symptoms such as severe fatigue, difficulty breathing, muscle pain, abdominal pain, or altered consciousness occur, you should go to the hospital immediately. If kidney function is poor, taking this medication may be risky, so regular kidney function tests should be conducted. If kidney function declines, the medication should be discontinued. Additionally, in cases of sudden dehydration, severe infections, heart diseases, or acute myocardial infarction, this medication should be avoided, and it should be temporarily discontinued around the time of surgery. This medication is not recommended for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, or those who are breastfeeding. During treatment, symptoms of low blood sugar may occur, so if you experience dizziness, trembling, cold sweat, or confusion, you should immediately consume sugar. It is also important to eat regularly and avoid intense exercise or nutritional deficiencies. There may be interactions with other medications, so if you are taking any other drugs, you must inform your doctor or pharmacist. Finally, while taking this medication, regular blood tests and kidney function tests should be conducted, and it is advisable to periodically check vitamin B12 levels.
