How to take

Adult dose

Take one extended-release tablet of this medication 100/1000 mg once daily. Patients taking the extended-release tablets of this medication 50/500 mg or 50/1000 mg should take two tablets simultaneously once daily. 1. For patients not currently treated with metformin: The initial dose is a total daily amount of 100 mg of sitagliptin and 1000 mg of metformin. Gradually increase the dosage of metformin.

Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin, which are used for diabetes treatment. Serious allergic reactions may occur while taking this medication, so if you experience symptoms such as rash, hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck, you should stop taking the medication immediately and seek medical attention. Additionally, there is a risk of pancreatitis; therefore, if you experience sudden abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or fever, you should consult a physician immediately. Rarely, life-threatening lactic acidosis may occur due to the metformin component; if you experience sudden fatigue, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, or decreased consciousness, you must seek immediate medical treatment. This medication should not be taken by individuals with severely impaired kidney function or certain serious conditions such as severe infections, dehydration, acute myocardial infarction, or heart failure. You must stop taking this medication before and after undergoing procedures that use iodinated contrast agents and re-administer it only after confirming kidney function. It is safest not to use this medication during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, nor in children under 18 years of age. While taking this medication, you should be cautious of symptoms of hypoglycemia, especially when taking it in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas, as the risk of hypoglycemia is increased, so it is important to monitor symptoms carefully. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of lactic acidosis; therefore, it is advisable to avoid alcohol while taking this medication. Also, if you are facing surgery or experiencing severe infections, dehydration, or severe trauma, you should temporarily discontinue this medication and resume it only after normal recovery of oral intake and confirmation of normal kidney function. Regular blood tests and kidney function assessments are important to detect any abnormalities. While taking this medication, continue to maintain a consistent diet and exercise regimen, and if you experience any related symptoms or adverse reactions, consult your healthcare provider immediately.
