This medication should be taken once a day during meals, preferably at dinner time, and the dosage should be gradually increased. Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin components and is used in diabetes treatment. Firstly, although rare, sitagliptin can cause serious allergic reactions; therefore, if symptoms such as itching, rash, or breathing difficulties occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and a doctor consulted. Additionally, acute pancreatitis may occur, so if abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting symptoms develop, notify healthcare professionals promptly. Metformin can rarely cause a serious side effect known as lactic acidosis; thus, if sudden fatigue, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, or abdominal pain occurs, discontinue use immediately and visit a hospital. Patients with reduced kidney function or poor liver function should not take this medication and should undergo regular kidney function tests. This drug should not be administered to patients with specific conditions such as moderate to severe kidney impairment, acute heart failure, severe infections, dehydration, or acute myocardial infarction. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also avoid using this medication. As there is a risk of hypoglycemia, caution is needed if meal patterns are irregular or intense physical activity is performed, and when used in combination with other blood glucose-lowering agents, dose adjustments may be necessary after consulting with healthcare professionals. During treatment, side effects such as diarrhea, headaches, and upper respiratory tract infections may occur; rarely, joint pain or skin disorders can arise, so if unusual symptoms persist, inform healthcare professionals. Moreover, excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided while taking this medication, and it should be temporarily discontinued before and after surgery. Finally, safety and efficacy have not been established for children (under 18 years) or children under 10 years, so this medication should not be used. Regular blood tests and kidney function tests are needed while taking this medication, and if any unusual symptoms appear, consult with healthcare professionals immediately.
