Improvement of blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to enhance blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes as an adjunct to diet and exercise. The combination of sitagliptin and metformin effectively manages blood sugar and assists in the treatment of diabetes.
Take one 100/1000 mg extended-release tablet once daily. Patients taking the 50/500 mg or 50/1000 mg extended-release tablets should take two tablets simultaneously once daily. 1. For patients currently not treated with metformin: The initial dose is a total daily dosage of 100 mg sitagliptin and 1000 mg metformin. Gradually increase the dose of metformin.
This medication contains both sitagliptin and metformin and is used for the treatment of diabetes. Caution should be exercised for allergic reactions while taking this medication. Rarely, serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, angioedema, and skin conditions may occur; if symptoms are suspected, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a physician. There is also a risk of acute pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas, so if abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea occurs, notify healthcare professionals immediately. Due to the metformin component, there is a rare but serious risk of lactic acidosis; therefore, patients with impaired kidney function or poor liver function should not take this medication. This medication should not be administered to patients with reduced kidney function, severe infections, dehydration, acute heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction. Temporary discontinuation of the medication is also advised before and after surgeries or exams that use radiocontrast agents. It is safest for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as children under 18, not to take this medication. Patients should be cautious about hypoglycemic symptoms and especially monitor this risk when taking this medication in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylurea medications. While taking this medication, it is important to maintain regular meals and exercise, and to undergo regular blood glucose monitoring, kidney function tests, and blood tests. Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of lactic acidosis; therefore, it is advisable to avoid drinking while taking this medication. If severe joint pain or blistering skin reactions occur while taking this medication, notify a physician immediately and discontinue use. In the case of overdose, seek medical attention immediately, as this drug can be partially removed by dialysis. Potential interactions may occur when taking this medication with other drugs, so it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other medications being taken.
