This medication is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes who have difficulties achieving blood sugar control with diet and exercise by administering sitagliptin and metformin together.

How to take

Adult dose

The 100/1000 mg extended-release tablet should be taken once daily, 1 tablet at a time. Patients taking the 50/500 mg extended-release tablet or the 50/1000 mg extended-release tablet should take 2 tablets simultaneously once daily. 1. Patients who are not currently being treated with metformin: The initial dosage should be a total daily amount of sitagliptin 100 mg and metformin 1000 mg. Precautions

This medication, which contains sitagliptin and metformin, is a diabetes treatment, and there are several important precautions to take when using it. First, this medication can cause serious allergic reactions, albeit rarely, so if symptoms such as rash, hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, it should be discontinued immediately and medical attention should be sought. Second, inflammation of the pancreas known as pancreatitis may occur, so if symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or fever appear, a doctor should be consulted immediately. Third, due to the metformin component, there is a risk of serious metabolic abnormality such as lactic acidosis, so if sudden fatigue, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, or decreased consciousness occurs, emergency treatment should be sought immediately. Fourth, patients with impaired kidney function, severe infections, dehydration, or cardiovascular issues should not be administered this medication, and regular kidney function tests should be conducted, especially. Fifth, this medication is not recommended for use in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or in children under 18 years old. Sixth, while taking this medication, there is a risk of hypoglycemia, so one should eat regularly and avoid excessive alcohol intake or vigorous exercise, and caution is especially required when taken with other antidiabetic agents. Seventh, if undergoing surgery or receiving radiocontrast examinations, administration should be temporarily stopped and resumed only after kidney function has normalized. Finally, regular monitoring of blood sugar levels, kidney function, vitamin B12 levels, etc., should be performed during the use of this medication, and if any abnormal symptoms arise, medical consultation should be sought immediately.

Hives, angioedema, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, anaphylaxis, severe swelling (edema), severe allergic reactions, severe skin reactions (including Stevens-Johnson syndrome), acute pancreatitis (fatal/non-fatal hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis), acute renal failure, deterioration of kidney function, jaundice, liver dysfunction, severe neurological symptoms, severe edema or urination abnormalities, severe hypoglycemia, severe and disabling arthralgia.
