Precautions
This drug can cause a serious side effect known as methemoglobinemia, which interferes with oxygen transport in the blood. This side effect can occur even in patients who have used this drug previously. If symptoms such as pale or bluish skin, headache, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, dizziness, or fatigue appear, use should be stopped immediately, and medical attention should be sought. This drug should not be used in patients with allergies to this drug or its components, or to similar local anesthetics. Care should be taken when used by elderly patients or those in poor health. If symptoms of shock, low blood pressure, respiratory problems, or severe skin reactions occur while using the drug, it should be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment sought. It may affect the central nervous system, potentially causing symptoms such as tremors, seizures, drowsiness, anxiety, dizziness, or vomiting, so the patient's condition should be closely monitored. It is important to be prepared for the possibility of shock and to use the minimum effective dose only. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this drug if the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been fully established. The mouth should be cleaned and dried before use, and appropriate tools should be used when applying between the gums. After anesthesia is achieved, the mouth should be thoroughly rinsed to remove any residual medication. It is only for dental use and should not be used for ophthalmic or parenteral administration. If there is an allergy to vasoconstrictors, this drug should not contain vasoconstrictors. Finally, it should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children.
