Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is prescribed to assist blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes using a combination of linagliptin and metformin. It effectively manages blood sugar levels when combined with dietary control and exercise therapy, improving diabetes management.
This medication is administered twice daily with meals. To reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin, dosage increases should be done gradually. 1. For patients with no previous experience of diabetes medication treatment and those having difficulty controlling blood sugar with monotherapy, start with a dose of this medication 2.5/500 mg taken twice a day, one tablet at a time, and can increase to 2.5/1000 mg taken twice a day, one tablet at a time.
This medication helps to control blood sugar levels. However, one of its active ingredients, metformin, can cause a serious side effect known as lactic acidosis, which requires caution. Lactic acidosis may lead to the excessive accumulation of lactic acid in the body, causing severe symptoms, and if untreated, can be life-threatening. Therefore, it should not be used in patients with impaired kidney function, severe liver disease, heart failure, or other unstable conditions such as acute infections. Additionally, pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as individuals with acute alcohol intoxication should not take this medication. During treatment, hypoglycemic symptoms may occur, so blood sugar changes must be closely monitored, especially when used with insulin or sulfonylureas. Elderly patients with decreased kidney function or those taking other medications that may affect kidney function should undergo regular kidney function tests. When undergoing acute surgery or radiographic examinations using contrast agents, this medication should be temporarily discontinued and restarted only after kidney function has recovered. Patients taking this medication may experience pancreatitis or skin blistering disorders, so any abdominal pain or skin abnormalities should prompt immediate consultation with a physician. Metformin may lower vitamin B12 levels, so regular testing for vitamin B12 is advisable during prolonged use. This medication is not recommended for children and patients under 10 years of age, and dosage adjustments should be made based on kidney function for elderly patients. Finally, it is important to store this medication out of the reach of children and to avoid moisture.

Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture and should be kept at a safe temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage will help maintain the medication's effectiveness over time.
