Improvement in blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to help control blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It contains both sitagliptin and metformin, which can effectively manage blood glucose levels when combined with dietary and exercise therapy. Consistent use and improvement of lifestyle habits can aid in alleviating diabetes symptoms.
This medication should be taken once daily, with one tablet. For the 50/500 mg extended-release tablet or 50/1000 mg extended-release tablet, the dosage is once daily, two tablets per dose. 1. For patients not currently treated with metformin: The initial dosage should total 100 mg of sitagliptin and 1000 mg of metformin per day. If necessary, metformin can be gradually increased up to a maximum of 2000 mg per day.
This medication contains two components, sitagliptin and metformin, and is primarily used to assist in blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes. First, the sitagliptin component may cause serious allergic reactions in some patients, so if symptoms such as rash, hives, or difficulty breathing occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and a doctor consulted. Additionally, sitagliptin may cause inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), so any symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea should be reported to a healthcare professional immediately. The metformin component can cause a rare but serious condition known as lactic acidosis, which can be life-threatening, so if symptoms such as muscle pain, difficulty breathing, fatigue, or abdominal pain occur, immediate medical treatment is required. This medication should not be prescribed to patients with moderately or severely impaired kidney function, acute infection, dehydration, severe heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction. It is also not recommended for pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, nursing mothers, or children under 18. While taking this medication, it is important to maintain regular meals and exercise, as irregular meals or excessive exercise can lead to hypoglycemia or other side effects. When used in conjunction with other blood glucose lowering drugs or insulin, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so awareness of hypoglycemia symptoms is important and dosage adjustments with a physician may be necessary. While taking this medication, regular kidney function and blood tests should be conducted, particularly as vitamin B12 levels may decrease, so periodic testing is recommended. If surgical or radiological imaging tests are planned, the medication should be temporarily discontinued, and resuming use should be determined after kidney function has recovered. Additionally, alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment, as excessive drinking can increase the risk of side effects. Finally, patients taking this medication should be well-informed about the symptoms of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis, and report any unusual symptoms to healthcare providers immediately.

Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture, and should be kept at a temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it in this manner will help maintain its effectiveness for a longer period.
