The medication should be taken at the same time every day, preferably after dinner or right before sleeping, and can be taken regardless of meal times. This medication can significantly increase the risk of serious cardiovascular side effects in women who smoke, so women over 35 years of age should avoid smoking and should not take this medication. The drospirenone component in this medication can cause hyperkalemia, so caution is required for patients with kidney, liver, or adrenal function issues or those taking medications that increase blood potassium levels. This medication may only be used for acne treatment in women over 14 who have started menstruating if there are no issues with using oral contraceptives and should not be taken before menarche. If cardiovascular adverse reactions such as thrombosis occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and it should be avoided for a certain period before and after surgery or childbirth. This medication should not be administered to specific patient groups including those with estrogen-dependent tumors, thromboembolic disease, cardiovascular disease, severe hypertension, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, adrenal dysfunction, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers. Women over 40 years of age, those with a history of epilepsy, family history of breast cancer, personal history of depression, and those with heart or kidney failure should use this medication with caution. This medication can cause various serious adverse effects such as thrombosis, myocardial infarction, stroke, hypertension, liver tumors, and gallbladder disease, so regular health check-ups and prompt medical attention upon occurrence of abnormal symptoms are necessary. Before starting oral contraceptives, it is crucial to check personal and family medical history and to have regular check-ups for blood pressure, breast examination, and uterine examination. If risk factors for thromboembolic events exist such as smoking, obesity, or family history of thrombosis, careful consideration should be given regarding the use of this medication, as the risk of thrombosis may be comparatively elevated than other oral contraceptives. During the use of this medication, side effects such as bleeding, headache, nausea, breast pain, mood changes, and weight changes may occur, and in rare instances, severe allergic reactions or thromboembolic events may occur. This medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance should not take it, and drug interactions with other medications may lead to contraceptive failure, hence it is essential to inform healthcare providers of all ongoing medications. When taking this medication, it is important to follow the prescribed dosage and regimen precisely as directed by a doctor and to consult healthcare providers immediately upon the appearance of any abnormal symptoms.
