Improvement of blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used in conjunction with dietary therapy and exercise therapy to help control blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Teneligliptin and metformin work together to effectively lower blood glucose levels, providing assistance for blood glucose management. This can serve as a useful treatment option for patients who struggle with blood glucose control. Consistent use, along with healthy lifestyle habits, can contribute to improved blood glucose levels.
This medication is generally administered once daily with the evening meal, and the dosage is adjusted gradually to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. The 20/1000 mg extended release tablet is taken once daily, one tablet at a time. Patients on the 10/750 mg or 10/500 mg extended release tablets should take two tablets simultaneously once daily. Adequate blood glucose control should be achieved in patients treated with metformin monotherapy.
This medication is used to treat diabetes and assist with blood glucose control. However, it should not be used in patients with poor kidney function or severe heart disease or liver dysfunction. In particular, in cases of decreased kidney function, the medication can accumulate in the body and cause lactic acidosis, which is a potentially dangerous condition, so caution is needed. Additionally, when used along with other diabetes medications, hypoglycemia may occur, so blood glucose levels should be closely monitored. Before and after surgery or radiographic tests involving contrast agents, medication use should be temporarily stopped and restarted only after confirming normal kidney function. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as breastfeeding women, should avoid using this medication. Alcohol consumption should be avoided while taking this medication, and if symptoms such as dizziness, abdominal pain, or difficulty breathing occur, immediate consultation with medical personnel is necessary. Older adults may have decreased kidney function, so regular kidney function tests and appropriate dosage adjustments are required. Also, this medication may lower vitamin B12 levels, so periodic blood tests are needed for monitoring during long-term use. While taking this medication, sufficient knowledge of hypoglycemic symptoms and measures should be acquired, and caution is needed when driving or performing high-risk work. Furthermore, drug interactions may occur when used in combination with other medications, so any concurrent medications should be disclosed to medical personnel.
