Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to help control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It particularly assists in managing blood sugar levels more effectively when teneligliptin and metformin are administered together. When used in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy, it can significantly aid in blood sugar management. This medication plays an important role in improving blood sugar levels and treating diabetes.
This medication is usually taken once daily with dinner, and the 20/1000 mg extended-release tablet is taken as one tablet once daily. The 10/750 mg or 10/500 mg extended-release tablets are taken as two tablets simultaneously once daily. The initial dosage is teneligliptin 20 mg once daily along with the existing dosage of metformin. The maximum recommended dosage per day is teneligliptin 20 mg and extended-release metformin 2000 mg.
This medication is used to lower blood sugar; however, it can very rarely cause a serious condition known as lactic acidosis. Patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, acute kidney disease, heart failure, or liver dysfunction may be at risk when taking this medication. Additionally, if undergoing radiologic dye studies, this medication should be discontinued 48 hours prior to the test and can be resumed only after renal function has been confirmed to be normal. This medication is not suitable for patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Patients in a diabetic pre-coma state or those allergic to the active ingredients should also avoid taking this drug. In the event of severe infections, trauma, or before and after surgery, this medication should be temporarily discontinued, resuming only after the patient has recovered. The risk of hypoglycemia may increase when this medication is taken with other diabetes medications, so it is essential to be aware of the symptoms and management of hypoglycemia. Occasionally, acute pancreatitis, interstitial pneumonia, or skin allergy reactions may occur, so any unusual symptoms should be immediately reported to a healthcare provider. Pregnant or potentially pregnant women and nursing mothers are advised to avoid taking this medication. The elderly may experience decreased renal function, so regular kidney function tests should be conducted, and dosage adjustments may be necessary if needed. In cases of overdose, it is imperative to seek immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment, and blood dialysis may be used to remove the medication from the system. This medication must be kept out of the reach of children, and transferring it to other containers should be avoided.
