Improvement in blood sugar control for type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It is especially helpful for those who are also following a diet and exercise regimen, effectively controlling blood sugar with the combined administration of teneligliptin and metformin. This helps maintain stable blood sugar levels, improving blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
This medication is generally administered once daily with the evening meal, and the dosage is adjusted gradually to reduce the gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. The 20/1000 mg sustained release tablet is taken once daily, one tablet at a time. Patients taking the 10/750 mg or 10/500 mg sustained release tablet should take two tablets simultaneously once daily. For patients who cannot achieve sufficient blood sugar control with metformin alone, the initial dosage of this medication should provide teneligliptin 20 mg once daily and the existing dosage of metformin. For patients switching from combination therapy with teneligliptin and metformin, the dosage of this medication can begin at the existing dosage of teneligliptin and metformin. When converting from metformin immediate release to sustained release formulations, blood sugar control should be closely monitored and proper dose adjustments made. If taken with sulfonylureas, a reduction of the sulfonylurea dosage may be considered to minimize the risk of hypoglycemia. The maximum recommended daily dosage is teneligliptin 20mg and sustained release metformin 2000mg. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been specifically evaluated in patients switching from other blood sugar-lowering medications. Any changes in treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes must be carefully monitored due to potential impacts on blood sugar control. To maintain sustained release characteristics, this medication should not be divided, crushed, broken, or chewed but should be swallowed whole.
This medication is used to treat diabetes and helps manage blood sugar levels. However, it can very rarely cause a serious condition called lactic acidosis, so if symptoms of lactic acidosis appear, consult a doctor immediately. It should not be administered to patients with moderate to severe renal function impairment or in serious conditions such as heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, or sepsis. Additionally, before and after tests using radiographic contrast agents, the use of this medication should be temporarily suspended and renal function checked before resuming. It is advisable for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as patients with liver dysfunction, to avoid using this medication. Caution should be taken for potential hypoglycemia when used with insulin or sulfonylureas, and appropriate measures such as consuming sugar-containing foods should be taken if hypoglycemia symptoms appear. Care should be taken when administering to patients with a history of abdominal surgery or bowel obstruction, heart disease, or those at risk of QT interval prolongation. If symptoms of acute pancreatitis appear, immediate medical diagnosis is required, and medication may be halted. This medication includes the dye Yellow No. 5, so patients allergic to this ingredient should take caution. Regular checks on liver and kidney function should be performed during long-term use for any abnormal signs. Particularly in the elderly, careful dose adjustment and renal function checks are important due to the risk of reduced renal function. The risk of lactic acidosis increases when this medication is taken with alcohol, so it is advisable to avoid drinking. If breastfeeding, consult with a doctor regarding whether to continue breastfeeding as this medication can be secreted into breast milk. In case of overdose, visit a medical institution immediately for appropriate treatment, which may include blood dialysis if necessary. Patients and their families should be fully aware of and attentive to the symptoms of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis while taking this medication. Furthermore, since there may be interactions with certain medications when taken concurrently, it is essential to inform the doctor or pharmacist about any other medications being taken. This medication is not used in children as its safety and efficacy have not been established.
