Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is 1 tablet taken twice a day. The maximum recommended daily dose of each ingredient is 25 mg of empagliflozin and 2000 mg of metformin. If sufficient blood sugar control cannot be achieved with metformin alone or in combination with insulin or other medications, the recommended dose is 5 mg of empagliflozin taken twice a day (total daily amount of 10 mg) alongside the existing dose of metformin. Precautions

This medication helps regulate blood sugar. However, it can cause a serious condition known as severe lactic acidosis, so individuals with poor kidney function or heart disease should not use it. Additionally, those allergic to the ingredients in this medication should avoid administration. Dosage should be stopped in cases of acute infection, dehydration, severe heart failure, and prior to certain tests or surgeries. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also avoid using this medication. Regular monitoring of kidney function is required during treatment, especially for the elderly or those with reduced kidney function. When used with other diabetes medications or insulin, dose adjustments may be necessary due to the risk of hypoglycemia, per physician's instructions. This medication may increase the risk of urinary and genital infections, so any symptoms of infection should prompt immediate consultation with healthcare professionals. Moreover, it can lead to fluid loss or dehydration, making adequate fluid intake vital. Because it may lower vitamin B12 levels, regular blood testing might be necessary. Excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment, and any unusual symptoms or discomfort after taking the medication should be discussed with a doctor immediately. Especially if pain, swelling, or fever occurs around the perineum, prompt treatment is required to address potential severe infections. Elderly patients or those with decreased kidney function should exercise extra caution, and regular health status checks are essential. Lastly, patients should not arbitrarily stop or adjust dosages of this medication and must follow their doctor's instructions.
