Blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes and prevention of cardiovascular events
This medication is used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes by combining empagliflozin and metformin alongside dietary and exercise therapy. It is suitable for patients whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled, and caution should be exercised when used in patients with concomitant cardiovascular disease under the guidance of a professional. This medication helps in blood sugar management and contributes to the overall health improvement of patients.
Take 1 tablet, 2 times a day. If blood sugar is not sufficiently controlled with metformin alone or in combination with other medications such as insulin, combine empagliflozin 5 mg twice daily (total daily dose 10 mg) with the current metformin dosage. If additional blood glucose control is required with excellent tolerability, empagliflozin dosage may be increased from a total daily amount of 10 mg to 25 mg. With this medication
This medication is helpful in lowering blood sugar. However, a rare side effect called severe lactic acidosis may occur, which can be very dangerous, so caution is advised. When used in conjunction with other diabetes medications, there is a risk of hypoglycemia, so symptoms should be monitored closely. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, acute kidney issues, severe infections, or heart failure should not use this medication. The use of this medication should be temporarily discontinued before and after tests involving radiopaque agents, and it should be resumed only after kidney function is confirmed to be normal. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should refrain from using this medication for safety。 During the use of this medication, regular kidney function tests should be conducted, and special caution should be taken in states where there is a risk of fluid loss. Hypoglycemic symptoms may occur, so meals should not be skipped, and it should be taken regularly, and dosage adjustments may be necessary when used with insulin or other blood sugar-lowering agents. This medication may increase the risk of urinary tract infections or genital infections, so immediate consultation with a physician is necessary if related symptoms appear. Vitamin B12 levels may decrease, so it is advisable to check through blood tests during prolonged use. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects from this medication, so it is best to avoid it. If eating is difficult due to surgery or serious illness, the use of this medication should be temporarily stopped and resumed once the patient has recovered. If any unusual symptoms or discomfort occur while taking this medication, immediate consultation with medical staff is required.
