How to take

Adult dose

Precautions

This medication may very rarely cause a serious condition called lactic acidosis. Lactic acidosis is a dangerous condition resulting from excessive accumulation of lactic acid in the body, which can sometimes lead to death. Caution is advised when taking this medication with insulin or other diabetes medications, as severe hypoglycemia may occur. Patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, severe infections, etc. should not be administered this medication. Patients scheduled for examinations using iodinated contrast media should stop taking this medication 48 hours prior to the examination and resume only after confirming normal kidney function post-examination. It is advisable for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant to avoid taking this medication. This medication can cause hypoglycemic symptoms, so patients at high risk of hypoglycemia should be cautious during irregular meals, excessive exercise, or use of other diabetes medications. Severe side effects such as acute pancreatitis may occur, so immediate medical attention should be sought if severe abdominal pain or vomiting persists. This medication is not to be used in patients with liver dysfunction and should be consulted immediately with a doctor if symptoms such as interstitial pneumonia, skin rash, or similar occur. Regular monitoring of kidney function, blood tests, and vitamin B12 levels is important during treatment. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects from this medication, so drinking should be avoided during treatment. Elderly patients are at higher risk of renal impairment and require dosage adjustment and regular monitoring.
