Improvement in blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to enhance blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes, in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy. It is particularly effective when Teneligliptin and Metformin are administered together, helping in diabetes management.
This medication is typically administered once daily with the evening meal, and the dose is adjusted gradually to minimize gastrointestinal side effects associated with Metformin. The 20/1000 mg extended-release tablet is taken once daily as one tablet. Patients taking the 10/750 mg or 10/500 mg extended-release tablets should take two tablets simultaneously once daily. The initial dose is Teneligliptin 20 mg once daily.
This medication assists in lowering blood sugar levels. However, it can very rarely cause a serious condition called lactic acidosis, which can be dangerous due to excessive lactate accumulation in the body, so caution is necessary. This medication should not be used in patients with impaired kidney function, severe heart disease, liver dysfunction, severe infections or trauma, or in women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. Additionally, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase when taken with other diabetes medications such as insulin or sulfonylureas; hence, it is important to be aware of hypoglycemic symptoms and their management. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of abdominal surgery or bowel obstruction, those with heart disease or QT interval prolongation issues, and in cases where acute pancreatitis symptoms occur. During the use of this medication, regular monitoring of kidney and liver function is necessary, and particular caution is advised for the elderly or patients with diminished kidney function. If sudden muscle pain, weakness, difficulty breathing, abdominal pain, fever, rash, blisters, or other symptoms occur during treatment, inform a doctor immediately. Using this medication in conjunction with alcohol may increase risks; therefore, it is advisable to avoid drinking. It is preferable for pregnant or breastfeeding women not to take this medication and to consult a doctor if necessary. Safety for children and adolescents has not been established, so it should not be used in this age group. In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment, as this medication can be eliminated through hemodialysis. Store this medication out of the reach of children and avoid transferring it to other containers. Regular blood tests and health assessments are required during treatment, especially as vitamin B12 levels may decrease, making routine checks advisable.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent exposure to air and moisture. The storage temperature should be maintained between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage helps to preserve the medication's effectiveness and prevent deterioration.
