The sustained-release 10/750mg or 10/500mg tablets are taken at a dosage of two tablets simultaneously once a day. Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes and assists in controlling blood sugar levels. It can very rarely cause a condition called lactic acidosis, which occurs when there is an excessive accumulation of lactic acid in the body, potentially leading to dangerous situations. Lactic acidosis is more likely to occur in patients with impaired kidney function or those with heart diseases, so caution is necessary. Additionally, there is an increased risk of hypoglycemia when used with insulin or sulfonylureas, so patients should be well aware of hypoglycemic symptoms. Patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, severe infections, or liver dysfunction should not use this medication. Patients scheduled for tests using radiocontrast iodine must stop taking this medication 48 hours prior to the examination, and resume only after confirming normal kidney function. It is advisable not to administer this medication to women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, patients with poor nutritional status, or those undergoing serious trauma or surgery. During treatment, patients should pay attention to hypoglycemic symptoms (dizziness, cold sweats, palpitations, etc.) and should immediately consume foods containing sugar if symptoms appear. Caution is also necessary for those with liver or lung issues, excessive alcohol consumption, or gastrointestinal disorders when taking this medication. This medication may lower vitamin B12 levels, so regular blood tests to check vitamin B12 status are recommended. In elderly patients, kidney function may decline, so regular kidney function evaluations and dosage adjustments may be necessary. This medication may interact with other drugs, so it is essential to inform the doctor or pharmacist of any current medications being taken. Breastfeeding women are advised to avoid this medication and to consult their doctors about whether to stop breastfeeding or discontinue the medication, if necessary. In case of an overdose, the individual should immediately visit a medical institution for appropriate treatment, and the medication can be removed through hemodialysis. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to another container.
