This medication is used to prevent and treat iron deficiency anemia. It also supplies vitamin D during periods prone to deficiency, such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, growth, and aging, to aid in healthy development of bones and teeth, and to prevent rickets.

How to take

Adult dose

For individuals aged 8 years and older and adults: take 1 tablet once daily.

Precautions

This medication contains iron, so if ingested in large quantities accidentally by children under 6 years old, it could lead to severe poisoning and death; therefore, it should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children. This medication should not be taken by patients with hypercalcemia, patients with sarcoidosis, an unknown cause of systemic inflammatory disease, and patients with kidney disease. Additionally, those with previous allergic reactions to this medication or its ingredients, infants under 12 months old, patients with hemochromatosis due to abnormal iron metabolism, where iron accumulates in the liver or pancreas, and patients with kidney stones should not take this medication. While taking this medication, it is advisable to avoid concomitant use of phosphates, calcium salts, oral tetracycline antibiotics, and antacids. Infants under 1 year old, patients currently receiving treatment from a physician, children exposed to a lot of sunlight, those with normal diets, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, premature and infant children, patients with gastrointestinal diseases, patients with heart and circulatory issues, patients with poor kidney function, patients with hypoproteinemia, and individuals with a history of kidney stones should consult with a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If symptoms such as nausea, hives, itching, photosensitivity, abdominal pain, cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, or coma occur while taking this medication, it is crucial to stop the medication immediately and seek medical advice. In case of overdose, nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal disturbances, excessive sodium in the body, heart failure, or swelling may occur, so caution is required. Particularly when taken with aldosterone antagonists or triamterene, potassium levels in the blood may become dangerously high, which requires attention. If symptoms do not improve while taking this medication or in cases of overdose, it is important to consult a healthcare professional immediately. This medication must be taken strictly according to the prescribed dosage and instructions, and when administered to children, supervision by a guardian is necessary. It is advisable to avoid drinking tannin-containing teas such as green tea or black tea before and after taking the medication. When storing, keep it out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and store in a cool, dry place. In addition, to prevent misuse and maintain the quality of the medication, do not transfer it to another container.
