The dosage of this medication should be determined considering the patient's current therapy, efficacy, and tolerance, not exceeding sitagliptin 100 mg and metformin 2000 mg. Generally, it is taken twice daily with food, and the dosage is gradually increased to minimize gastrointestinal adverse effects caused by metformin. 1. Precautions

This medication contains two active ingredients, sitagliptin and metformin, and is primarily used for blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. First, this drug can cause allergic reactions, so if symptoms such as rash, urticaria, or difficulty breathing occur after administration, you should immediately stop taking it and consult a doctor. In addition, acute pancreatitis, a serious inflammation of the pancreas, may occur, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or loss of appetite appear, you should immediately notify a medical institution. The metformin component can cause lactic acidosis, a rare but life-threatening metabolic complication; therefore, patients with impaired kidney function or liver dysfunction should not take this medication and should regularly undergo kidney function tests. This medication is not to be administered to patients with moderate or greater impairment of kidney function, acute heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, severe infection, or pregnant or nursing women. Additionally, the medication should be discontinued for a certain period before and after surgery, and caution is required when taken with other antidiabetic medications or alcohol as the risk of hypoglycemia may be increased. During the use of this medication, it is important to maintain a regular diet and exercise routine and regularly monitor blood sugar, kidney function, and vitamin B12 levels. If severe joint pain, skin blisters, itching, or difficulty breathing occur during treatment, you should immediately consult a physician. Lastly, the safety and effectiveness of this medication have not been established in children, and elderly patients should take it with extra caution due to the possibility of decreased kidney function.
